    I am near completing a book on the classical English “puzzle” detective novel (of “Simple Art” infamy!) and I recently finished a bit (about ten pages actually) on Chandler’s relationship with that form. Having read the two previous Chandler biographies and related material, I came to the conclusion that there was not only room for but a real need for yet another stab at him, so to speak; so I am pleased to read that you have tackled the job and that you evidently have discovered, through your diligence, new material.
